Join us January 7, for our first First Friday of 2022 and the opening reception of “Sex, Drugs and Butterflies” the new Featured Exhibit by Lexington, Kentucky artist Jennifer Hart. Jennifer taps personal transformations from her past traumas to challenge viewers to rediscover beauty in society’s discards and dehumanization. She leverages the tradition of quilting to creatively reimagine the use of textiles in a modern, innovative way.
“My work has remained focused on the transformation of dehumanization into beauty,” Jennifer says. “I unfortunately don’t have to look very far to find dehumanization. Whether it’s in pornography, old photo albums donated to the thrift store, old books or the opioid epidemic, I want to fight against it in the same way I transformed my own dehumanizing experience into something beautiful.”
Please note that the exhibit contains adult content and may not be suitable for all audiences. All attendees are requested to mask and maintain physical distancing per CDC recommendations.
